A soft orange glow had begun to be cast over Ravenna as the sun set in the distance. An orange glow that reflected off of the waters creating a colorful spectacle from where the sun began to descend all the way to the sands of the bronze coast. A light breeze blew through the air rustling the leaves of the trees. The sound of birds chirping rang out from tree to tree. The people of Rasna had begun to head to their homes for dinner that night.
Atop a ledge on Mount Caesar, there sat two lovers. One came from the smaller town of Rasna, lived his life in comfort and security. The other came from the poor town of Tiberia, living her life just trying to make ends meet. The two met some time ago and became fast but close friends. The longer they spent together the more inseparable they had become. Things progressed between them and they’d started dating which surprised none of their mutual friends.
Atop the cliffs of the renowned mountain of the island. They were just there enjoying eachothers company and a beer for each of them. They had just decided to kick back after a long day and enjoy the view as per Antonio’s idea. After a moment of embracing the serenity of the moment Amena broke the silence.
“Goddamn, today was something else.” she smiled, relishing in the good times they had that day.
“Hell yeah it was!” Antonio smiled back. “Though admittedly that party was a bit snooty for me. Glad we got outta there when we did.”
“Yeah to be honest, but it was still a good time and all.” Amena replied reassuring him. “Besides it wasn’ just you. I thought there might’ve been something fun there as well.”
“Yeah, I should've thought twice before choosing to go to a party in Rubica.” Antonio said
“They don’t even know the meaning of fun in noblesville.” Amena chuckled.
“Hah! Yeah you’d think we’d learn our lesson.” He laughed back “All the fun stuff happens in Rasna and Tiberia!”
They sat in silence for a bit longer as Amena leaned back on a rock behind her. She asked Antonio.
“So one question for ya, why’d ya take me up here? The last time ya did that was when we first started dating. So what's up?”
“I was just about to mention that.” He said with a smile. As he said that he turned around to reach into his bag. After a bit of digging around, he pulled out two small pouches.
“Catch!” he tossed one to Amena which she fumbled in her hands before dropping it into her lap.
“What's this?” she was puzzled about the pouch as she opened it.
As she opened it her eyes widened at what was inside. A polished bronze chain locket that connected at a sapphire gem in the socket. Opening it up was an empty place for a photo. She hadn’t ever had something like this before, she knew this must’ve cost a lot. Antonio rambled a bit.
“I remembered you pointed out this locket back when we were looking around the Rubica market. and you mentioned that your favorite gemstone was sapphire rather than the topaz they had there. So I saved up a ton of galleons to get two of them so we could match, I just wasn’t sure if you even liked jewelry given you never wear any-” he was interrupted by Amena’s tight embrace.
“Tony, I love it.” she said, arms wrapped around him affectionately.
He smiled back, seemingly relieved that she liked the gift.
“I’m glad you like it.” he said hugging her back
They held each other there for a moment as the sun fell down the horizon cascading the town in blue. Lights inside the houses were lit and the streets fell silent. The two finally let eachother go as Amena spoke up.
“Hey, I just remembered, there's gonna be a bonfire in Tiberia tonight if your interested.”
Antonio knew of these bonfires all too well, sure the town was poor but they all pitch in and with the fish they catch and the cooking of the ones who know what they're doing, they make a decently good meal for everyone. They tell stories by the fire and sometimes play songs, it’s always a good time drunk or not.
“Oh hell yeah! Tomorrow we can also get pictures taken for these lockets!” he exclaimed.
“Sounds good to me!” Amena answered
The two began to walk as Amena properly clocked in what Antonio was rambling about, she giggled to herself before she mentioned to Antonio
“By the way babe, The reason I don't wear jewelry is because I’m broke for Posideon’s sake!” she laughed
The two continued off into the town of Rubica to head to Tiberia, laughing and carrying on as they poke fun at each other for dumb things they did throughout the day. The night was spent with good food, good folks, and good fun. As they hoped it always would be.
